She asked me if the reason why I tried to hold her hand was because I had been affected by the love potion also. I could have said no. I could have told her and at least, she would have known. But I didn't. I took the coward's way out. I don't know why I did it. Sometimes I wonder whether I should just give up. She isn't interested in a rel I just want a chance. It won't matter in the end, will it? She will still go back to Ukraine and I will be here and maybe it is for the best.

(FAIL) WARDED PRIVATE TO SELF
[OOC: After finding this in his dorm room, possibly on his bed? LET ME KNOW BABES.]

It was terrible. I don't know how someone could rip off the cover of a perfectly good book and put it on something else completely different as a prank. At least, I hope it was a prank. I do live with four other seventeen-year-old boys. But surely even they would prefer something more contemporary than that. Who even reads the Kama Sutra I would have much preferred History's Greatest Lies.

How does that even work I'm quite certain that people weren't meant to bend like tha I suppose if people did stretches beforehand it wouldn't be too bad

Hypothetically, if HILT were to hold a historical reenactment, which historical event would it be and why?

The Goblin Rebellions are always an interesting place to start, I think, although there's something rather intriguing about the First Wizarding War. Some medieval rebellions may also be rather fun. Or perhaps the Hogwarts schism between Gryffindor and Slytherin?

What do you think?

I have been trying to keep silent on the issue for a while now but this talk of a club for handsome men has prompted me to do this. It is a widely known fact that society places quite a lot of emphasis on physical attractiveness, which is expected--it's a normal biological imperative to seek out an attractive mate. However, I feel that this strange fixation on beauty has created a blind spot on what should be important to all of us: common decency.

I am appealing, quite specifically, to males (since we are rather susceptible to this), because coupled with the fact that we are oft oblivious to what hurt our actions can cause others, this attitude can make for a potent dose of insensitivity. Yes, you could be handsome and dashing but that should not be used as an excuse to treat females, or other people in general, poorly. I think that is such a shame. Looks are not a free pass that have the power to downplay something ill-done.

The same goes with insensitivity in general. You shouldn't ask a girl to the gala in order to make another girl jealous. I was so angry when As we are growing older, I think it would be a wise idea to start understanding the fact that when one does something, it leads to consequences. There are always consequences. And people get hurt and embarrassed by one's actions. Please Think before you act. It is the right thing to do.

At least, that is my opinion.

Hello everyone. This is a gentle reminder that the play, Twelfth Night, produced by HILT will be on its final showing this evening. Ticket sales have been successful so far but there are a few spares available at the door for those who are still interested. We have been very lucky with our brilliant and talented cast and crew, especially with the involvement of students from the guest schools. We truly appreciate your patronage and support. It is a particularly happy time for me since I will be leaving school at the end of this year and it is heartening that HILT will continue to be a strong Hogwarts club even after my departure due to the tireless efforts of the club members, my sister Ophelia, and Sam.

We will be having more HILT events in the latter half of the school year, so keep your eyes peeled for those!

WARDED TO SELF
Hypothesis: I like Celima.

Reasoning: I enjoy talking to her. I look forward to studying History of Magic with her every week. I get a psychosomatic physiological reaction (i.e. butterflies in stomach) when she smiles and/or laughs. I get nervous every time she speaks. I look away first when she is making eye contact because I think she might think that I am staring. I feel strange sense of happiness when she is interested with what I have to say. Other signs such as need to display physical affecti I am concerned when she is injured or annoyed (more concerned than usual).

Possible origins: When she made me cry (as a girl), she apologised for being sharp and gave me a handkerchief. She is intelligent, fair, and obviously physically attractive. She enjoys learning. She engages me in very interesting conversations. She doesn't really belittle me like the others. I know she finds my manner curious but she doesn't seem to be put off by it. We enjoy the same sort of things, e.g. school but not Quidditch, and have similar opinions about certain matters. She acknowledges my presence in public and doesn't care if she is seen with me. She has really lovely legs eyes.

Conclusion: I like Celima.

Oh dear.

Celima, I recall that someone ran into you in the Library last Wednesday when we were studying. I know that you said it was nothing but I thought I saw a bruise forming. I found a jar of Healer Morrible's Medicated Mallowsweet and Dittany Balm in my trunk. It is quite good for burns, scrapes, cuts, bruises and other smaller injuries. You can have it, if you'd like?

I hope you're all practising good dental hygiene with all the kissing going around.

WARDED TO SELF; OPHELIA AND ANNIE ADDED A MINUTE LATER
Approximately 6 weeks until Christmas. It is the optimum time to start considering my Christmas/Yule card owling list. Ophelia and Annie, would you mind helping me out with this? Of course, I am barring our parents' friends and acquaintances since they usually take care of that themselves. But I would like your input on who should or should not be sent a card. You know I'm bad at this. Hm, what I currently have:

  • Everyone in 7th Year;
  • Sam Carmichael;
  • Lucy Weasley;
  • Sidney Savage;
  • Rose Weasley;
  • Callum;
  • Lysander Scamander;
  • Athena (unless I should just combine hers with Theo's?);
  • Cel
  • Ce
  • Celima Dolinskaya;
  • Roald Krum;
  • Jana Wronski (would it be appropriate to send one to the team captains?);
  • Didier Blanchard; and
  • Sophia McKnight.

I should also make a list of students I'm tutoring this year, I suppose?

WARDED TO SELF
I have no clue what to get mother and father this year. Or Ophelia and Anathema. If I don't act soon, I might have to go shopping. I hate shopping. But then again, mother might take one look at me when we all get home for the holidays and decide that I need new clothes. Which is silly, I think, because Ophelia makes some very good ones for me and my other ones aren't even close to falling apart.

But I digress. Presents.

  • Mother - necklace? perfume? Modern Catalonian Magic: Origins and Future Movements by Javier Gasca;
  • Father - cuff links? tie? The Nimbus and the Bubotuber: Globalisation, Inequality and the Magical World's Economics by Thomas L. Sunnyside;
  • Ophelia - tickets to a show at the Globe Theatre in London? When season starts again. May be problematic?
  • Annie - bracelet, probably something from overseas. She won't like it if someone else has one exactly like it, which I suppose is rather awkward. Must order this as soon as possible!

WARDED TO WILLIAM LONGBOTTOM
Hello, William. I know we are acquainted through your older brother, Franklin, but I don't believe we've really spoken to each other that much. In any case, I only wanted you to know that I trust that you will be a good date to my sister, Ophelia.

Our family We I know she may be a little eccentric but she is a really lovely girl and I hope that you would not do anything bad untoward or cause he to be unhappy in any way. She likes the Bard, so you may wish to speak about that. You can even try to ask her about what she thinks about the modern Muggle adaptations!

But I sincerely hope you two have a nice time.

Well done, Durmstrang! You all must be completely chuffed! I do hope your injuries heal quickly though. Then again, Hogwarts has an excellent first aid protocol so I would not be too worried, if I were you.

I would also like to take this time to mention that I am now running extended Transfiguration group tutoring sessions. The coursework is getting a tad bit more challenging and Professor Mulligan is slightly short-tempered recently and I find that group discussion is by far the most effective way of learning difficult concepts. Please send me an owl or contact me through here for the schedule. Oh! And if anyone has any trouble with History of Magic, let me know. Or any of my other subjects, really.

I seem to have become female. I do not quite know how to react to this. Except, perhaps to ask why that potion was assigned to us in the first place. And I am so, so cross at myself for messing up the quantities of some of the ingredients and I am hormonal and it is so horrible. I cry at the most random times. It doesn't make sense and it is frustrating. I hope this isn't permanent. Is it? Please no. I'll have to buy new clothes. I hate shopping

This post is mostly directed to Danny, Madelen, and Alessandro. I hope this will assist you in our group assignment. What is the protocol for this, I don't kn I am electing to keep this open for everyone else in the spirit of opening dialogue and introductions between Hogwarts students and our guests. Please feel free to direct me any questions or concerns that you may have.

Here goes, I suppose

Wave wand for picture. )

In any case, please feel free to ask me any questions. Be they about the history of the school, which I am quite well-versed in, or other more practical aspects such as how to get to the Library without having to deal with too many moving staircases, I would be happy to answer them. Well, have a lovely day. All. I mean, you all have a lovely day.

Blast. No History of Magic until Wednesday.

Aug. 20th, 2011

oo1;

I know we've had very exciting news and I wish all the competitors the best of luck (go Hogwarts)! But I do have to be practical here. I know I won't be able to feel at ease until I know the answer to this very important question:

How will the Multicultural Relations class be marked?

In fact, how will it be structured? Are we assigned particular readings each week and get assessed on that? Is it going to be history-based? Anthropologically-based? Sociology-based?

Or will it be more of a practical course, where we will be marked on how well we get along with our visitors? If it is the latter, I have to say that that might be a bit of a waste of time for all involved. It might be more worthwhile to make the course a mixture of both academic and practical exercises.

You have to ask yourselves these questions, you know. I rather hate to be caught unprepared.
